Frequently asked questions.

Does your venue require insurance?

Yes, to help protect both our clients and The Berry District, every renter must obtain a special-event liability insurance policy that includes host liquor liability coverage when alcohol will be served. This coverage can help with claims involving guest injuries or damage to the venue. Policies are generally affordable, although pricing varies according to the size and details of the event. Wedding coverage may be purchased through eWed or another approved insurance provider. Proof of coverage must be submitted 30 days before the event.

What is the venue alcohol policy?

Client must hire a professional bartender or mobile bar service approved by Venue. The provider must use appropriately trained personnel, comply with North Carolina ABC laws and permit conditions, monitor service, prevent underage access, refuse service to apparently impaired persons, and stop service when directed by Venue or law enforcement. Client and the alcohol provider—not Venue—must determine who may purchase, transport, possess, serve, or sell each type of alcohol and must obtain every required North Carolina ABC permit. If the provider relies on a mobile bar services permit or Client relies on a limited special occasion permit, a complete copy must be delivered to Venue no later than 14 days before the event. Venue’s approval does not constitute legal advice or confirmation that a permit is sufficient. The bartender/mobile bar provider must furnish certificates showing at least $1,000,000 per occurrence in liquor liability coverage and $1,000,000 per occurrence in commercial general liability coverage, naming The Berry District LLC and any designated property owner as additional insureds for the event. Coverage must extend through setup, service, breakdown, and alcohol removal.

Can we choose our own vendors for our event?

Yes.  All vendors are independent contractors selected by Client. Client must provide the vendor list and required insurance documents no later than 30 days before the event. Venue may reject a vendor for documented safety, licensing, insurance, property-protection, or legal-compliance concerns. Vendor arrival and removal must occur within the contracted access period. Client is responsible for vendor acts, omissions, charges, deliveries, property, and cleanup to the extent caused by Client’s selection or direction.
